The most ingenious things are deceptively simple. Take the Margarita cocktail, for example. I just can't believe that in Mexico, where tequila is poured in abundance, lime grows, there is no shortage of salt and liqueurs, they delayed the creation of this drink for a whole hundred years. Indeed, between the creation of the first Triple Sec liqueur and the earliest, according to one of the legends, the time of the invention of the cocktail, almost a century passed. No matter how the magnificent Margarita lingered with the birth, over the next years she more than made up for lost time. A light refreshing alcoholic cocktail has become one of the most popular in the world.

It is necessary

    • Prescription margarita cocktail
    • approved by the International Bartenders Association (IBA).
    • 35 ml tequila
    • 20 ml Cointreu or Triple Sec
    • 15 ml lime juice
    • salt
    • ice
    • shaker

Instructions

Step 1

According to the International Bartenders Association, in order to make the perfect margarita, you need to take a classic champagne glass, rub the edges with a slice of lime, and then dip them in a saucer of salt.

Step 2

In a shaker mix seven parts tequila, four parts liqueur, three parts fresh lime juice and shake well.

Step 3

Carefully, taking care not to damage the salt rim, pour the cocktail into the glass, garnish with a slice of lime and serve.

Step 4

There are several variations of this cocktail. What ingredients can be substituted in a margarita so that it remains a margarita? First of all, this is liquor. Even the strict IBA could not say for sure with which of the two French orange liqueurs this cocktail should be prepared. And this Association usually does not allow such liberties. In principle, in this case it is possible to understand them - the difference in taste between Cointreu and Triple Sec is difficult for a non-specialist to grasp. Both liqueurs are made from the finest oranges and fully convey the essence of these fruits. Only Cointreau is made from fresh oranges and is almost colorless, while Triple Sec is made from dried peels and has a bright golden hue. Accordingly, the Margarita with Cointreau is smoky, due to tequila and lime, and with Triple Sec it is bright, orange. There is another liqueur, to taste, an exact copy of the two previous ones - the Mexican Controy. Although not listed among the recommended, if you use it, only a professional will notice the difference.

Step 5

Royal Margarita can be made by two great twin liqueurs - the French Grand Marnier and the Italian Grand Gala. Both drinks are made on the basis of aged cognac (French from a mixture of true cognacs) and oranges. Oranges from sunny Sicily go to Italian liqueur, and orange essence to French.

Step 6

Blue Margarita is the same cocktail, but with a bright blue Curacao liqueur. Curacao, despite its intense heavenly color, is an orange liqueur. It is made from the dried peel of a special kind of oranges found only on the island of Curacao, alcohol and artificial colors.

Step 7

In order for Margarita to become Strawberry, you just need to add fresh or frozen strawberry puree to it. Puréed berries should be the same volume as tequila. Leave or remove lime juice in this recipe, everyone decides for himself.

Step 8

Another transformation of the popular cocktail is Frozen Margarita. Take some ice and replace the shaker with a blender. It's simple.
