The benefits of milk have long been proven by scientists who studied its composition and came to the conclusion that it contains a huge amount of various microelements and many vitamins. However, there are opinions about the dangers of this product. For some people, it is indeed harmful to drink milk, but if there are no allergies, lactose intolerance and digestive problems, then it cannot be harmful.
The benefits of milk
The benefits of milk are explained by its chemical composition: it contains about two hundred different substances. These are amino acids, fatty acids, lactose, milk sugar, a number of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and other organic elements that have a beneficial effect on the body.
Milk contains about twenty different amino acids - sources of protein. Moreover, in this product they are balanced in such a way that they are absorbed almost completely. Therefore, in terms of protein content, milk is not inferior to egg whites, which are recognized as the most valuable product in this sense.
Depending on the type of milk, its composition may be different, but similar. So, in the milk of any mammal there is a whole set of trace elements with calcium at the head. It also contains fluoride, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iodine and other substances. Most of them are well absorbed by humans. Milk is rich in vitamins A, B, D, especially riboflavin, which is involved in the production of energy from carbohydrates and fats.
It can take a long time to describe the beneficial properties of milk. It reduces blood pressure, therefore it is suitable for hypertensive patients, it effectively fights insomnia and calms the nervous system thanks to certain amino acids, it promotes the production of immunoglobulins, and therefore helps with colds. It is an ideal product for patients with osteoporosis, in which calcium is washed out of the body. Milk helps with migraines, reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, improves the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, heals heartburn, gastritis and ulcers. It reduces the likelihood of diabetes and is even able to fight obesity. It is especially useful for children to drink milk: it contains all the substances necessary for growth and development, and the child's body assimilates it better.
Milk harm
Milk itself is not harmful; it only benefits a healthy person with normal digestion. But there are some diseases and disorders in which this product can become dangerous. For example, milk should not be drunk by people with impaired assimilation of lactose - milk sugar. They lack or are present in insufficient quantities of enzymes that digest this substance. Therefore, the consumption of milk and other foods with lactose leads to indigestion.
Milk increases the risk of kidney stones if a person has a predisposition to it. The tendency to this disease is inherited, phosphate stones are deposited in the kidneys, and milk aggravates this process.
It is undesirable to drink a lot of milk for the elderly, since its regular consumption leads to the accumulation of certain lipoproteins, which can cause the development of atherosclerosis. Doctors recommend that after 55 years of age consume no more than 300 grams per day.
