Alcoholic products differ from alcohol-containing products in the minimum alcohol content, which is measured at the stage of full readiness. In addition, alcohol-containing products can also be non-food, while alcoholic products are made exclusively from food raw materials.
Definitions of the concepts of alcoholic and alcohol-containing products are contained in article 2 of the Federal Law of 22.11.1995 No. 171-FZ. Alcohol-containing products in accordance with the specified norm means food, non-food products, the ethyl alcohol content of which at the stage of readiness is at least one and a half percent of the total volume.
At the same time, alcoholic beverages are exclusively food products; they can be produced both with the use of ethyl alcohol and without it. If ethyl alcohol is used in the production of alcoholic beverages, then it is obtained from food raw materials. In addition, in the manufacture of alcoholic beverages, alcohol-containing food products can be used, and the minimum alcohol content in alcohol must be at least half a percent of the total volume.
What are the main differences?
Thus, the main difference between alcoholic and alcoholic products lies not only in the alcohol content, but also in the purpose. So, alcoholic beverages are produced exclusively for consumption, therefore, only food raw materials are used in their manufacture. Alcohol-containing products can be non-food, and alcohol-containing food products are not used for direct consumption, but can serve as one of the components for alcoholic beverages. That is why these types of products differ quite significantly. Thus, ordinary perfumery is a striking example of alcohol-containing non-food products.
What is meant by these types of products?
Alcoholic products include alcoholic beverages known to all. They are classified into spirits, beer, wine, wine drinks, mead and some other types. Alcohol-containing food products do not in any way intersect with alcoholic ones, but they can serve as raw materials for the manufacture of some of its types. So, examples of alcohol-containing food products are wine wort or beer wort, used in the corresponding types of production activities.
Non-food alcohol-containing products differ from alcoholic products even more, since they cannot be used for direct consumption under any conditions, they serve exclusively for household, medical, cosmetic and other similar purposes.
