Another version of traditional cabbage rolls. Minced meat with porridge, fried onions, carrots and tomatoes, and cabbage leaves in between. Children often refer to this casserole as cabbage cake. In some ways they are right. She really looks like a puff cake. This recipe is ideal for all those who do not want, do not like, or who simply cannot “wrap” ordinary stuffed cabbage rolls.
The components of the minced meat can be changed. Meat can be combined with rice and served with a casserole with tomato sauce, or you can cook minced porridge. The taste is awesome!
Casserole products:
• White cabbage
• Minced meat (500 g pork and 500 g turkey meat)
• Red onion
• Laurel leaf
• Carnation
• Salt
• Olive 30 ml
• Mold oil
• Carrots 2 pcs
• Garlic, 2 wedges
• Pearl barley, 100 g
• Oregano (can be dried)
• Tomatoes in their own juice 1 can
How to cook:
• Boil water in a deep saucepan. Remove the core from the cabbage with the sharp end of a knife. Dip the head of cabbage in boiling water and cook for ten to eight minutes.
• Oil the bottom and sides of the baking dish. The entire area of the mold should be covered with boiled cabbage leaves. The remaining leaves will be used for interlayers.
• Boil cereals in salted water. Drain and cool. Fry finely chopped onions and carrots in oil. Five minutes is enough. Add chopped garlic, seasonings, and tomatoes along with the sauce. Simmer until all moisture disappears. Then wait for the mass to cool.
• Combine meat, porridge and vegetables from the pan in a deep container. Salt, do not forget about pepper.
• Put 1/3 of the minced meat on the leaves, make a layer of cabbage, then put the minced meat again. Repeat until the filling ends. Cover the top of the casserole with leaves.
• Bake for an hour and a half (140 degrees). Transfer the prepared casserole to a wide dish or tray. Cut like cake. Done!
