Ardent fans of the mojito included Ernest Hemingway and Fidel Castro. Traditionally, the composition of the mojito consisted only of strong white rum, lemon wedges and mint leaves. The lemon juice didn't make the cocktail so strong, and the mint leaves gave it a pleasant refreshing taste.

Fruit and berry mojito

By the end of the 20th century, mojito became popular all over the world and varieties of its preparation appeared. In the UK, in one of the nightclubs, the bartender prepared an apple mojito, which is loved in Europe. It contains clarified apple juice, which was mixed in a 1: 1 ratio with white rum.

Later, other variations of mojito recipes with freshly squeezed juices appeared: strawberry, cherry and lingonberry. Mint leaves, crushed in a mortar with cane sugar and lime juice, were mixed with berry juice and white rum.

As a result, in the recipe for making mojito, white rum is mixed in equal proportions with sparkling white wine, lime juice and crushed mint sprigs are added.
