Fried bread is a great addition to breakfast, a snack for beer or other drinks, an addition to soups and broths. This simple dish can be prepared in dozens of ways, using different types of oils, herbs, vegetables, spices and other ingredients.
Fried bread with salt
One of the simplest options, suitable for a light snack, is black bread toast with salt. Such a simple appetizer can be served with beer or cocktails; hot croutons are most delicious.
To make croutons, you can use unrefined oil - then the finished products will acquire a rich aroma of toasted seeds.
You will need:
- Borodino bread;
- sea salt;
- sunflower oil for frying.
Cut Borodino bread into even thin slices, then divide each into strips. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, put bread strips in it. Toast the bread on one side, then turn over. The degree of cooking depends on your taste - the croutons can be made hard and crispy, or you can leave them soft on the inside with only a crispy crust.
Remove the prepared croutons from the pan and place on a plate lined with a paper napkin - it will absorb the excess oil. While the food is still warm, sprinkle it with sea salt and serve.
Sweet croutons
These croutons can be served with breakfast - they go perfectly with freshly brewed tea or coffee with milk.
You will need:
- white baguette;
- butter;
- icing sugar.
Cut the baguette slightly obliquely into thin slices. Grease them with butter on both sides and place in a hot skillet. Toast the toast until golden brown. Sprinkle the hot bread with icing sugar and serve. You can add jam, preserves or fresh fruit to the dish.
You can make croutons more savory by mixing powdered sugar with ground cinnamon.
Toasts with mozzarella and tomatoes
?
Subtle garlic flavored toasts, complemented by mozzarella and thinly sliced tomatoes, are ideal as a hot snack or light dinner. They can be served with chilled white wine or espresso coffee.
You will need:
- 4 slices of white toast bread;
- 1 clove of garlic;
- 1 tablespoon of butter;
- 50 g mozzarella;
- a large ripe tomato;
- salt;
- freshly ground black pepper.
Choose very ripe tomatoes with a sweet taste - they contrast well with unleavened mozzarella and garlic bread.
Peel a clove of garlic and cut it in half. Rub the slices of bread with halves on both sides. Then lightly spread the butter on the bread and place in a preheated skillet. Fry the toast until golden brown, taking care not to burn it.
Cut the mozzarella and tomatoes into even circles. Place a circle of mozzarella on top of toasted bread and cover with tomato. Sprinkle the tomatoes lightly with salt and generously with freshly ground black pepper. Serve the toast immediately on a preheated plate.
