Many recipes that housewives used in the old days are now forgotten. However, the recipe for toasted bread in milk is still popular among housewives.
It is necessary
- - 1 glass of milk;
- - 2 eggs;
- - salt;
- - 1 cup of sugar;
- - butter;
- - garlic;
- - dried or fresh herbs;
- - white bread or loaf.
Instructions
Step 1
To prepare a similar dish, take white bread, cut it into pieces that are about two centimeters thick. To feed a family of three, it is enough to take 10 slices of bread. Pour 1 cup of warm milk into a separate bowl (you can preheat it in the microwave) and add 1 cup of sugar to it. Mix the resulting mass thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved in the milk. Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, put it on fire and wait for the oil to heat up.
Step 2
When the butter heats up, take each piece of bread, dip it in sweet milk, and then put it in a hot pan and fry on both sides over low heat until golden brown. This usually takes about four minutes. Make sure that when you turn over, the soaked pieces of white bread do not fall apart, but retain their previous shape. The finished dish can be served with cold milk or hot tea.
Step 3
The second method of preparing such a dish is also quite simple, and it consists in the following. Buy white bread from the store or replace it with a loaf. Carefully cut the bread into slices of medium thickness. You can also take approximately 10-12 pieces. In a separate bowl, break 4 two chicken eggs, add 1 glass of warm cow's milk, 1 teaspoon of salt to them and mix everything thoroughly. Some people even prefer to add a spoonful of sugar to a salty mixture of milk and eggs. Alternatively, you can add chopped dried dill or parsley.
Step 4
Pour a small amount of vegetable oil into the pan or put a piece of butter. Wait until the temperature is high enough, and then take each piece of bread, dip it in eggs and milk, and then fry over low heat in the same way as you did with white bread and sweet milk. The finished dish can be sprinkled with grated hard cheese or finely chopped fresh herbs. If you don't want to add sugar to your milk and egg mixture, you can put a couple of minced garlic cloves in it. In addition, you can fry your croutons not only in butter or sunflower oil, but also in olive oil infused with basil. It all depends only on the flight of your imagination and on the products that you can find in your refrigerator.
