Rosehip has been used for medicinal purposes for more than one century, mentions of it are found in Avicenna, in Tibetan medicine and in biblical manuscripts. The homeland of the plant is Asia. Now the wild rose habitats cover a rather vast territory from the Urals and Siberia to Kazakhstan and the Far East.
The plant is a perennial wild-growing bush, up to 2.5 m high, covered with sharp thorns, of the Pink family. Blooms in May-June with pink flowers, fruits - red-orange. In Russia, they learned about the healing properties of shrubs back in the 16th century - and since then they have been used as a folk remedy for the treatment of various diseases.
During the time of Ivan the Terrible, rosehip fruits were collected by special pickers. The berries were intended to maintain the health and combat effectiveness of the troops. Rosehip decoction was worth its weight in gold, sables and brocade were paid for it.
The fruits of the bush contain so many useful substances that they can replace an entire pharmacy. This wonderful drug contains a very large percentage of vitamin C (there is more ascorbic acid than lemon and black currant), P and K, riboflavin, carotene, tocopherols, fatty oil.
Berries have a choleretic, diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect, help regulate the stomach, and increase immunity. Preparations based on rose hips are used for vitamin deficiency, anemia and exhaustion. Regular use of the infusion from the fruits of the bush increases efficiency, increases the body's resistance to all kinds of infections and colds. Due to all its useful and medicinal properties, rose hips are widely used in folk medicine. Rosehip tinctures usually do not cause side effects, they can be consumed for quite a long time.
In traditional medicine, only the fruits of the shrub are used, both fresh and dry, in homeopathy, only fresh berries are used. And only traditional medicine uses all parts of the shrub.
To normalize blood pressure, you need to prepare a rosehip tincture on vodka: pour 100 g of dry (fresh) crushed fruits with half a liter of vodka and put in a dark place for a week and a half. Take the tincture three times a day, 20 drops before meals.
A decoction of rosehip flowers will help with inflammation of the middle ear. You should brew the flowers and add the same amount of carrot juice to the broth. Drip into your ear.
The basic infusion of chopped berries is prepared very simply: 1 tablespoon of berries is brewed with 2 cups of boiling water, insist on a steam bath for 15 minutes, then another 30 minutes without a steam bath under a lid, strain and use half a glass twice a day. Take before meals.
You can prepare the same infusion of crushed berries using a thermos. Such an infusion will be beneficial for anemia, atherosclerosis, hypertension.
The infusion is prepared from whole fruits in a slightly different way: fruits (1 tablespoon) are poured with boiling water (1 glass), boiled for 10 minutes, infused for 24 hours, filtered. The second option: pour boiling water over the fruits, insist in a sealed container for 8 hours.
So that the berries of the bush do not lose their healing properties, they must not only be properly prepared, but also harvested correctly. The collection is carried out before frost, since even a slight frost will destroy all medicinal properties. Then they are dried. Correctly harvested raw materials retain their brownish red color.
