For some reason, beef tongue has always been more in demand than pork tongue. This is not fair. Dozens of hearty and delicious dishes can be made from pork tongue too. At the same time, they will be no less nutritious and appetizing than from beef, because this is the same delicious product.

Pork tongue salad with pineapple

Ingredients:

- boiled pork tongue - 300 g;

- hard cheese - 150 g;

- canned pineapple - 3 rings;

- Bulgarian pepper - 1 pc.;

- garlic - 1 clove;

- pomegranate seeds;

- salt and ground black pepper - to taste;

- greens for decoration;

- mayonnaise or natural yoghurt.

Cut the boiled pork tongue and cheese into strips, and cut the pineapple rings into cubes. Remove seeds from bell peppers and chop into long strips. Pass the peeled garlic clove through a press. Combine all prepared ingredients in a bowl, salt and pepper to taste, season with mayonnaise or natural yogurt and stir. Divide the salad into portioned salad bowls, garnish with chopped herbs and pomegranate seeds.

Baked pork tongue

Ingredients:

- fresh pork tongue - 600 g;

- canned white beans - 500 g;

- butter - 50 g;

- fresh thyme (thyme) - 2 g;

- Italian herbs (dry mix) - 2 g;

- bay leaf - 2 leaves;

- pink peppercorns - 0.5 tbsp.;

- salt to taste.

Rinse pork tongues, put in boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Drain this water, rinse the tongues under the tap, put them in fresh boiling water, add 10 pink peppercorns, bay leaves, salt and cook for 1.5 hours over medium heat. Remove and put in cold water for a couple of minutes, peel. Then cut the tongues into slices about 0.5 cm thick.

Grease a baking dish with butter, lay the tongue plates on top of each other, chop the thyme on top, put the diced butter. Mix salt with Italian herbs and salt the tongues. Place the dish in an oven preheated to 150 ° C for 15-20 minutes. Serve with a side dish of warmed canned white beans and sprinkle each serving with the oily baked gravy.

Pork tongue casserole

You will need:

- pork tongues;

- fresh potatoes;

- bulb onions;

- hard cheese;

- sour cream or mayonnaise;

- vegetable oil;

- salt.

You can take the ingredients in any quantity. Boil pork tongues as in the previous recipe. Boil the potatoes until half cooked. Cut the tongues and potatoes into thin circles. Peel the onions and cut into rings. Grate the cheese.

Take a baking dish, grease its inner walls with vegetable oil. Place potato slices on the bottom, onion rings on top, then slices of boiled peeled tongue. Lubricate the top with plenty of sour cream or mayonnaise and place in the oven, preheated to 180 ° C, for 20 minutes. Remove the almost finished casserole from the oven, sprinkle with grated cheese on top and send back to the oven for 5-7 minutes. A tasty, satisfying and appetizing dish is ready.
