Meatballs are walnut-sized balls made from any minced meat (meat, fish or vegetable). A distinctive feature of meatballs is that they must be breaded. For breading, use regular flour, not breadcrumbs. Meatballs came to us from Turkic cuisine. There meatballs were cooked in the thick of the main cauldron, and then served on a platter with a thick gravy, similar in consistency to sauce.

It is necessary

    • 700-800 grams of minced meat or meat
    • 2-3 onions
    • 0.5 cups rice
    • 2-3 tablespoons of sour cream
    • salt
    • pepper (to taste)

Instructions

Step 1

Peel the onion, wash and chop it, mix with the minced meat (a mixture of pork and minced beef is better than a homogeneous one). If you use meat for minced meat, then it is better to take a fatty one, since the meatballs will turn out to be softer. Pass the meat through a meat grinder and mix with the onion. To your liking, you can add a couple of cloves of minced garlic or dill chopped in a blender to the minced meat.

Step 2

Rinse the rice, cook until half cooked. Pour the broth in which the rice was cooked into a separate container, later it will be useful for making gravy.

Step 3

Cooked rice does not need to be rinsed under cold water. Add it to the minced meat and onion mixture. Mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir again.

Step 4

Form small balls, about 3-4 cm in diameter. Dip them in flour and fry in a pan until golden brown. It is better to use rice or wheat flour. Remember not to use bread crumbs.

Step 5

Put the fried meatballs in a saucepan and pour over the rice broth. It is better to take a pan that is not enameled so that the meatballs do not burn.

Step 6

Add sour cream to your liking, but at least 3-4 tablespoons.

Step 7

The meatballs should be at least half filled with sauce. If there is less liquid, add water. Salt the gravy; you can add a little sugar to your liking. Put the saucepan on fire, bring to a boil, reduce heat slightly and simmer for 20-25 minutes.

Step 8

As a side dish, you can use boiled pasta, rice or mashed potatoes. Serve with the sauce. You can also decorate the resulting dish with dill. Bon Appetit!
