Shambali is a traditional and popular dessert in Turkey. It turns out to be very tasty. There is no flour in the composition. The layers of the dessert are soaked in sorbet that just melt in your mouth.
It is necessary
- - 0.5 kg of semolina
- - 2 eggs
- - 150 ml of vegetable oil
- - 200 ml of yogurt
- - 3 cups granulated sugar
- - 2 tsp baking powder
- - a pinch of vanillin
- - 1 orange zest
- - 2.5 glasses of water
- - 1 tsp lemon juice
- - nuts
Instructions
Step 1
Whisk the sugar and eggs with a whisk.
Step 2
Add yogurt and vegetable oil, stir. Then add semolina, a pinch of vanillin, baking powder.
Step 3
Rub the orange zest and stir. Grease the mold with butter and sprinkle with semolina.
Step 4
Pour the dough into a mold and place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
Step 5
Boil the syrup from 2.5 cups water, 2 cups granulated sugar and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5-10 minutes. When the shamballa is baked, take out the baking sheet and fill it with syrup (sorbet) and send it back to the oven, let it bake for another 5-10 minutes. Thanks to this, the syrup is quickly absorbed.
Step 6
Cut straight into a baking dish, sprinkle with coconut if desired.

Serve chilled on the table.
