There are several ways to store carrots, both whole and processed. Before deciding on a storage method, you need to prepare carrots for it. Only undamaged and healthy roots can be stored for a long time. Do not wash carrots before placing them in the cellar.

Organize storage of carrots at a temperature of 0 to 1 degrees. The carrot boxes are covered with sand. It prevents carrots from premature wilting, and also protects them from rotting and disease. The sand should be moist enough. You can check the humidity by squeezing a handful of grains of sand in your hand. After that, they will take the given shape without crumbling. Sand is poured at the bottom of the box, a layer of carrots is laid on it, again covered with sand, and so on along the entire height of the box. In order to save space, it is more convenient to stack boxes on top of each other.
Step 3
A less convenient way to preserve carrots is called "clay". For him, the clay is diluted in water to the consistency of sour cream, after which all the carrots are placed in a container with this composition. Then the roots are placed in boxes with holes for ventilation, and there a protective layer of drying clay is created on them. This thin coating prevents drying out and protects against disease. Before use, it is enough to wash off the clay from the carrots and use the root vegetable as directed.
