Poltavka or Poltava groats are groats made from durum wheat, in appearance resembling barley or barley groats. Four varieties of such cereals are produced: large, two medium varieties, with grains of an elongated or oval shape, and small, with grains of a round shape. Porridge, poultry and pie fillings are prepared from this small half-tava, as having the best qualities.
