The sugar contained in honey is quickly and easily absorbed, and if you suddenly get sick with a respiratory disease, honey will help you quickly get rid of a sore throat, cough and other signs of a cold. It strengthens the immune system and helps with certain stomach ailments. But in order for honey to bring pleasure and benefit to health, it is necessary to choose a product of the appropriate quality. Closer to autumn, honey appears both in store windows and on market stalls in huge quantities. How to choose delicious, high quality, natural honey that will be tasty and healthy? Some tricks known to every beekeeper will help to identify a fake. If a light caramel smell emanates from the honey, do not hesitate, sugar syrup has been added to the product (and in a high concentration). Some "craftsmen" add starch - therefore, if you heat such honey over a fire, it becomes cloudy (and undiluted remains transparent). So that the product - good honey is candied during storage, but the honey obtained by feeding the bees with sugar does not freeze. Such honey does not contain the unique beneficial enzymes that are present in a natural product that bees produce from pollen from flowering plants. Such honey will not bring harm - however, no benefit either. When buying honey, pay attention to its consistency: good honey should not be too thick or too runny. Winding on a spoon and sweating downward, it should form a slide. Good honey is always transparent - but its color can be any, depending on the variety of plants from which it was collected. For example, buckwheat or sunflower honey should be brownish, floral honey should be yellow, and lime honey should be very light and very fragrant. Well, the price of honey can also indicate its quality - good, undiluted honey cannot be sold for a pittance, because keeping an apiary is difficult, expensive and troublesome. Do not expect to choose high quality honey if the price is half the market average. Of course, ideally, you should strive to acquire honey from familiar beekeepers.
