    • 210 ml (1 cup) water
    • 6 tbsp. l. milk
    • 1 1/2 tbsp. l. corn oil
    • 350 grams (3 cups) white bread flour
    • 150 grams (1 1/4 cups) cornmeal (

    • 2 tsp Sahara
    • 1 tsp dry yeast
    • water
    • for greasing bread
    • polenta
    • for sprinkling on top.

Step 1

If you have a bread maker, it's pretty simple and quick! First, pour water, vegetable oil and milk into the mold. Then add flour - wheat and corn - so that the layer completely covers the water. Place salt and sugar in different corners of the bread maker. Make a small indentation in the flour, but you don't need to make a hole. Add yeast. Now set the baking mode. Choose "fast" with a medium crust. When the dough is kneaded, brush the surface of the dough with water before baking.

The finished bread must be taken out of the bread machine and put on the wire rack to cool. Sprinkle polenta on the finished bread.

Step 2

If you bake in a familiar oven, it will take a little longer. First, soak the cornmeal in a mixture of warm water and milk and let sit for an hour. After that, dilute the yeast, add sugar, salt, oil and leave them for 10 minutes.

Then, add sifted wheat flour to the already swollen corn flour. It is better to choose fine flour. Add the yeast mixture here and start kneading. The dough must be kneaded thoroughly and for quite a long time - at least 20 minutes. It should turn out to be elastic, but slightly sticky to your hands. Place the dough in a greased pan and leave to rise for an hour. Initially, the form should be completed by about a third.

When the dough has doubled in volume, you can send it to the oven. Bake at 220 degrees for 30 minutes. You can also determine readiness by the presence of a golden crust. But you need to cut the bread already cooled. Corn bread is very good for soups, sauces, vegetable dishes.
