Panzanella with tomatoes is an original Italian salad based on tomatoes and toasted bread. It is unrealistic to cook this salad without these components. You can bake the bread yourself in the oven or grill it.

It is necessary

  • - 500 g of red tomatoes;
  • - 2 cucumbers;
  • - half a red onion;
  • - 4 pieces of rustic gray bread;
  • - a bunch of basil;
  • - 2 cloves of garlic;
  • - olive oil;
  • - wine red vinegar;
  • - freshly ground black pepper, salt.

Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the tomatoes first, cut into large chunks, and combine in a large bowl with the onion, cut into half rings. Add chopped garlic there.

Step 2

Season the tomatoes with vinegar and olive oil, salt and pepper. Don't overdo it with the vinegar so the salad doesn't turn out too sour!

Step 3

Cover a plate with tomatoes with foil, put in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Step 4

Cut the bread into small slices. Bake in the oven or grill. You can rub the finished pieces of bread with garlic, but this is not necessary.

Step 5

Cut the cucumbers into cubes, add to the chilled tomatoes. It is advisable to peel the cucumbers and remove the seeds.

Step 6

Add basil leaves (you can tear it with your hands), stir in slices of bread, serve immediately.
