The classic recipe for orange manna

You will need:

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 200 g of premium flour;
  • 3 large oranges;
  • 1 cup granulated sugar;
  • 110 ml of vegetable oil;
  • 1 tsp baking soda.

Wash the oranges with hot water, cut 2 fruits in half and squeeze the juice. Filter the juice from the seeds and pulp particles and drain into a bowl suitable for kneading the dough. You should have at least a glass of orange juice.

Add sugar to the juice and dissolve it with a whisk, then, while stirring, add the butter and semolina. You should have a mixture that is uniform in consistency. Cover the bowl with a lid and let the mixture rest for an hour at room temperature.

Scald the third orange with boiling water and dry thoroughly, removing all plaque from the fruit. Remove the zest from the fruit with a fine grater, peeling off only the brightly colored layer. You should have 2 tablespoons of shavings.

Add zest and baking soda to the swollen semolina, stir. Then add the sifted flour in portions, stirring the dough in continuous circular motions.

Preheat oven to 180 ° C, grease a baking dish with vegetable oil and lightly dust with flour. Pour the orange dough into a mold and place in the oven. A regular orange manna is baked for 40 minutes.
