Not all coffee is regular coffee. There are dozens of varieties of coffee with milk, black, with and without alcohol. Different cafes have different names for the same type of drink. In order not to get confused when ordering a cup of your favorite coffee, it would be nice to know the names of certain methods of serving it.
Instructions
Step 1
A very strong, black coffee served without sugar or milk in small cups that can hold only a couple of sips is called espresso. Many people know this, but few people know that a double shot of espresso is called doppio, and if you find a coretto on the menu and decide to order it, then do it only if you are no longer going to drive. For a coretto is an espresso with cognac or brandy.
Step 2
By the way, the French version of the coretto - cafe brulee has a very beautiful presentation. The waiter pours sugar into a cup, pours it with brandy, sets it on fire, and only then fills a cup of espresso.
Step 3
Ordinary coffee with milk is called that, everything is very simple and straightforward. In Italy and France, you will find it on the menu, like the cafe latte, in Germany - the milchcafe, in Spain, the cafe von leche.
Step 4
Cappuccino is also a coffee with milk, for its preparation, milk and espresso are mixed in a 1: 1 ratio, and a beautiful head of milk foam is laid on top of the drink.
Step 5
Compared to all other coffee drinks, latte macchiato can be called a real work of art. It consists of three ingredients that are not mixed, but are poured into tall warmed glasses in layers. A third of the glass is filled with hot milk, the next layer is carefully poured into the back of the spoon with espresso, completing the picture with a large amount of milk foam. Café latte is drunk with a straw, moving it from layer to layer.
Step 6
If you come across the word melange in the name of the drink, it means that cream is used instead of milk. For example, Viennese melange is not just cream and coffee, in addition to espresso, a little strong cocoa is added to the drink, and an airy creamy cap is sprinkled with chocolate chips and decorated with a cherry.
Step 7
Creamy coffee may contain alcohol. The Austrian Almcafe includes espresso, egg yolk, vodka and cream, while the German Fariseer is an espresso blended with rum hidden under whipped cream.
Step 8
And this is just a very small list of famous varieties of coffee drinks that can be served to you in a cafe. If you come across an unfamiliar name, do not hesitate to ask the waiter what kind of coffee this is. Or just order and try it, if it’s your new favorite variety.
