In modern shops and supermarkets, the selection of wine is simply huge. White, red, rose, dry, sweet, dessert wine - it is easy to get confused from such an assortment. But, despite such a variety, not all drinks presented on store shelves are of good quality. Quite often there are fakes among them. Therefore, the question of how to check the quality of wine is relevant for many Russians.
Instructions
Step 1
If possible, it is better to buy wine in special wine shops. There, the conditions for storing this drink are suitable, and the likelihood of acquiring a fake is lower. Better yet, buy wine from places with good reviews, or you've already bought the drink there yourself.
Step 2
Pay attention to the price of the bottle. If the wine costs less than 100 rubles, then this is clearly a fake. A good wine cannot cost less than $ 10 a bottle, and often the price is higher.
Step 3
When purchasing wine, pay special attention to the label. The good one will indicate the information about the producer, the place where the grapes were grown, the harvest year, the category and the main characteristics of the wine. Some labels indicate that the wine is natural, but this is not a guarantee of quality. Look at the title. Some unscrupulous producers, replacing only one letter in a word, under the guise of a well-known brand, can sell you low-quality wine. For example, inadvertently, instead of "Bardolino" you can buy "Bardalina". These will be completely different wines.
Step 4
Buy bottled wine. A beverage sold in cartons is easier and easier to counterfeit.
Step 5
Another way to check the quality of the wine is to turn the bottle upside down and look at the amount of sediment. If there is too much of it, then this is a reason to think about the authenticity of the wine. Of course, the sediment in natural wine is allowed, but it should not be too much, and it should be quite dense in consistency.
Step 6
If you bought wine, but you have doubts about its quality, then there are several ways to refute or confirm them. Pour water into a deep bowl and a bottle of wine. Pinch the hole tightly with your finger, submerge the bubble under water and turn it upside down. Remove your finger. If the wine starts to mix with water, it means that it contains additional impurities, dyes. The faster the blending takes place, the more unnatural the wine is.
Step 7
Place a few drops of glycerin in your drink glass. If it is lowered to the bottom and does not change color, then this is natural wine. In case of counterfeiting, the glycerin will turn red and yellow.
