According to table etiquette, each drink has its own glass. This is necessary in order to fully reveal the aroma, appreciate the color and feel the taste. One of the basic rules here is that the stronger the drink, the lower you need to choose a glass for it.
For wine
Wine glasses are divided into utensils for white alcoholic drinks and red ones. White wine is poured into a glass, shaped like a tulip - the wide bowl is slightly narrowed towards the top. As a rule, it has a volume of 180-260 ml. Dishes for red wine are slightly larger - 200-300 ml and with a wider bowl. It is customary to pour wine a third of the glass, and to drink - holding on to the stem, without touching the cup.
For champagne and sparkling wines
A flute or flute glass is a tall thin glass with a long stem with a volume of 180 ml. Champagne or sparkling wine is poured into it. Sometimes these drinks are served in a bowl-shaped glass - a wide bowl with a slightly narrowed neck on a high leg. Such dishes are usually used at ceremonial receptions when they create pyramids from wine glasses. The bowl is filled halfway with champagne, so the taste and aroma of the drink is better revealed.
Snifters
Snifter - a glass with a wide bottom, tapering towards the upper edge, on a short stem. Its volume is from 250 to 875 ml. It is customary to drink cognac, brandy, and calvados from such dishes. Pour one third of the drink.
For cocktails
Cocktail glass - a container on a high leg with a cone-shaped bowl, with a volume of 90-280 ml. As a rule, they drink martini from it.
For tropical cocktails, a harikane is used - a glass with a short stem and a bowl that looks a bit like a lily of the valley bud. Its capacity is 400-480 ml.
Cocktails, consisting of layers, are served in a café pus - dishes with a volume of 80-120 ml, on a short stem with a tall oblong bowl extended towards the upper edge.
Glasses and glasses
A glass is a container with a capacity of no more than 100 ml, on a low leg. They drink strong alcoholic drinks from glasses, such as vodka, bitters, liqueurs.
A stack is a small glass with straight, smooth or faceted walls. It is also suitable for non-ice spirits that are drunk in one gulp.
Glasses and glasses should be washed with a soft sponge and warm soapy water. To avoid streaks, wipe the glass with a napkin or microfiber. To give a shiny shine, the dishes are rinsed in water with lemon juice or vinegar.
The best place to store glasses is considered to be a closed cabinet. It is important that there are no sources of odor near it, such as the kitchen or smoking room. Professionals do not recommend storing table glass next to spices, herbs, tea or coffee. Their aroma will saturate the dishes, and then the drink. Also, do not put glasses upside down, otherwise the glass will absorb the smell of the cabinet shelf.
