Rum has long been considered the drink of seafarers. All of them, from the pirates of the 17th century to the British sailors of the 20th century, took considerable stocks of rum with them on the voyage due to its antiseptic and warming properties. Today there are three types of rum - white, gold and dark. The latter is especially popular among connoisseurs.

Instructions

Step 1

Try pure rum. This method is preferable for quality brands. The fact is that dark rum is aged in barrels much longer than amber, and therefore has a brighter and richer taste. Therefore, it is best to evaluate this drink by drinking it as a digestif (that is, after a meal).

Step 2

Pour dark rum into a special glass with a thick bottom and sides (you can also use traditional cognac glasses for this drink). Add a couple of ice cubes and a wedge of lemon or lime to the glass. The resulting cool drink with a tart taste will be slightly tinged with sourness from citrus fruits, which will give an unforgettable sensation when consumed.

Step 3

Sip on dark rum with a classic snack option. It is customary to eat pure rum with the addition of ice, if desired, with an orange, which must first be sprinkled with a small amount of ground cinnamon.

Step 4

Try the favorite combination of rum and cola. Mix a carbonated drink with rum in a 3: 1 ratio, add ice and a slice of lemon. This will make the rum taste less tart, and the cola will give the cocktail a sweet taste.

Step 5

Make dark rum-based grog. This hot drink will warm you in cold winter and will give you a great mood. You will need 100 ml of hot water, 50 ml of dark rum, the juice of half a lemon, and one teaspoon of honey. Add rum to hot water, then lemon juice and honey. Stir well until the honey is completely dissolved and pour into glasses. Add cloves or nutmeg if desired. You will receive a wonderful hot cocktail, in which you can adjust the taste of rum according to your wishes.

Step 6

Taste a classic cocktail based on Barbados dark rum. Mix 40 ml of dark rum, 10 ml of Grenadine syrup, 80 ml of orange juice and 10 ml of lemon juice. It is advisable to use a shaker. Then put 3-4 ice cubes in a tall glass, pour in the cocktail and garnish with pineapple.

Step 7

Unleash the taste of dark rum with a Caribbean cocktail. Mix 30 ml dark rum, 30 ml gin, 20 ml lemon juice and 10 ml sugar syrup in an ice shaker. Pour into glasses and garnish with cherries for cocktails.
