Broccoli is a delicious and healthy vegetable. There are many dishes that use this green "flower": salads, stews, casseroles. You can also use broccoli on your own - as a side dish for the main course.
Instructions
Step 1
The cooking time for broccoli in a skillet varies from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on how large the vegetables you use and whether they have been cooked before.
Step 2
If you are cooking fresh, young broccoli, try to preserve its beneficial composition by taking as little time to fry it as possible. First, rinse the broccoli well and divide the bush into inflorescences. You can cook whole buds or cut the cabbage into small pieces. The fluffy top of the broccoli can be eaten before the green flowers begin to bloom. If the plant begins to bloom, cut the "bouquets", keeping only the inflorescence legs.
Step 3
Preheat a frying pan, pour some vegetable oil on it. Place broccoli in a skillet. You can make a vegetable stew by adding your favorite vegetables to the broccoli. To do this, fill the food with water halfway, cover with a lid. After 5 minutes of boiling, season with salt, add pepper, curry, ginger, lemon zest, nutmeg to taste. Simmer vegetables over medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. When the water boils off, remove the lid, add finely chopped dill, parsley, basil, mix well and heat for a couple of minutes. The meal is done when the vegetables (including broccoli) are soft and tasty.
Step 4
Young broccoli can be fried separately, while bringing them to half-cooked. Cook cabbage in a hot skillet with vegetable oil, season with your favorite spices. Cooking time depends on the thickness of the inflorescence and stem. It will be possible to determine the readiness of vegetables when they are easy to chew, but retain a light pleasant crunch. This way broccoli will retain more nutrients.
Step 5
If you cut broccoli more than a week ago, the delicious fresh vegetable flavor will not be as pronounced. You can shorten the frying time by pre-boiling the broccoli until half cooked. Place the cabbage in boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Note that 7-10 minutes is enough for a full boil of broccoli. When the cabbage has softened a little, fry it in vegetable oil, adding your favorite spices. In this case, you only need to fry the broccoli for 3-5 minutes.
Step 6
If you want to cook frozen broccoli, put them in the skillet directly from the refrigerator without thawing. It is best to make a vegetable stew from frozen vegetables, but do not add water to the pan: it will appear from the melted ice. But spices in this case will be required.
