What foods can be frozen

There are simply no restrictions on the composition or type of products. Moreover, knowing some of the secrets of freezing can really help the hostess save her time and quickly feed the whole family with what was previously stored in the freezer. The most typical products for freezing are fresh fruits and vegetables, which is understandable, because in the season of their preparation, they have a minimum cost. But these are not the only options. With no less success, you can freeze not only familiar berries, fruits and vegetables, but also ready-made dishes. For example, if you fry a mixture of carrots and onions in oil once, and then freeze it in portions in small containers, then the duration of the cooking time of the soup can be really reduced by adding ready-made overcooking to it. If you wish, you can freeze even small portions of broth, which is especially important when you need to quickly boil a small saucepan of soup.

In a similar way, you can freeze your semi-finished products, for example, pancakes or dumplings, which, in terms of their useful properties, will certainly bypass the store ones.

How to prepare food for freezing

If we are talking about fruits or vegetables, then it is advisable to minimize the time interval between their collection from the garden and harvesting as much as possible. The shorter it is, the more vitamins are stored in the fruit. Before freezing, they must not only be washed, but also dried, otherwise there is a great risk that the pieces of fruits or berries stick together and form a single monolith, which is simply inconvenient to use. As for ready-made dishes, it is also advisable to think over individual packaging for each of them, for example, to wrap each pancake in cling film, and then there will be no problems with their subsequent heating.

Before freezing food for future use, it makes sense to grind them, especially vegetables, which will help to use the free space of the freezer as ergonomically as possible.

How much to store frozen food

Much depends on the temperature in the chamber itself. If it reaches 18 degrees, then you can safely store food for six months. At higher temperatures, the freezing of food should not exceed three months, but this is more likely not about spoilage of food, but about the preservation of their useful properties. That is, in the absence of repeated defrosting, the likelihood that vegetables or meat will deteriorate after 6 months of storage is minimal, but so will the benefits of eating them.
