It is necessary

    • 1 kg of black chokeberry berries
    • 1.5 kg sugar
    • 300 g water
    • jam-making utensils (for example
    • enameled or copper basin
    • pan)
    • blanching pan
    • the spoon
    • glass jar with an iron or plastic lid.

Instructions

Step 1

Separate the berries from the brushes, rinse, dry. It is better to cook jam from fully ripe fruits, because unripe do not have the desired taste and aroma.

Step 2

Boil the syrup in a deep, roomy dish. To do this, pour sugar into the selected container and fill it with water. Heat the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 3

Boil water in a separate bowl. Dip the peeled berries into it and blanch for 5 minutes. This is necessary because the chokeberry berries have a dense skin. Then drain the water.

Step 4

Pour the berries into a bowl of boiling syrup and simmer for no more than 5 minutes. Let the jam cool.

Step 5

After a day, put the syrup with berries on the fire again and boil it until tender. The fact that the jam is ready is evidenced by the lowering of black chokeberry berries to the bottom of the dish.

Step 6

Pack the finished jam in jars. This can be done in two ways. If the jam is not going to be stored for a long time, cool it and pour it into clean, dry jars. Cover them with plastic lids. For longer-term storage, pour the hot jam into scalded hot jars, roll them up immediately and turn them upside down. In this form, jars of jam should be cooled.
