The very name of the organization - mens - literally translated from Latin as "mind". After several years of existence of the association of the smartest people in the world, it was somewhat modified, into mensa, and acquired a slightly different meaning - a table, a feast, a round table of interlocutors.
The structure of the international organization Mensa is represented by 50 national groups, which include 120,000 members. The largest of these are the British and American Mensa. The fact is that residents of those countries where there is no community representation can join them.

According to the charter, each member of the community has the right to their own opinion and expression, but cannot impose it on others. In addition, the imposition of one's own political, religious, philosophical, ideological, patriotic and other convictions is under the strictest prohibition.
The main goal and task of the Mensa community is the search for highly intelligent people, their unification and further development for the benefit of humanity, the popularization of education and spiritual, cultural, moral enrichment. In addition, the members of the organization study intelligence itself, looking for ways to improve it, and not only for themselves, but also for their wards - gifted children and adolescents from different countries.
