Even the smallest kids know that milk is very healthy. It is not for nothing that the children's song says: "Drink milk for children - you will be healthy." This product contains about a hundred different nutrients. Milk contains complete protein and easily digestible fat. In addition, milk is a very important source of phosphorus and calcium. Naturally, only a product of real milk origin, with a high fat content, is useful. Everyone can check the fat content of milk.
It is necessary
-
- Glass 12-15 cm high
- ruler with millimeter divisions
- milk.
Instructions
Step 1
Naturally, accurate indicators of milk fat content can be determined only with the help of special devices available on cow farms and dairies.
Step 2
But everyone can check the approximate fat content of milk without leaving their own home and using only the appliances available in every modern kitchen.
Step 3
To determine the fat content of milk at home, you only need a glass 12-15 cm high, a ruler with millimeter divisions and, of course, the test product itself, i.e. milk.
Step 4
On the prepared glass, draw a dash with a felt-tip pen at a level of 10 cm from the bottom. Then pour milk into the glass up to the indicated mark.
Step 5
A glass of milk should be left on the table at room temperature for 8 hours.
Step 6
During this time, cream should float to the surface of the milk poured into the glass. The height of the layer formed from them must be measured with a ruler with millimeter divisions.
Step 7
Now you need to determine the percentage of fat content of the milk. This is not at all difficult to do. The height of the milk layer, i.e. 100mm, must be considered as 100%.
Step 8
The number of millimeters of the cream formed on the surface of the milk is the percentage of the fat content of the product.
Step 9
Naturally, it is impossible to measure tenths of a millimeter of cream "by eye". But determining the approximate fat content using such a simple method is quite easy.
