"Cointreau" (from the French. Cointreau) is a Triple Sec orange liqueur, which was born in 1849. The homeland of the liqueur is France; it was made by the brothers Adolphe and Eduardo Cointreau from a grape brandy and was originally marketed under the name Triple Sec White Curasao. The Cointreau fortress is about 40 degrees. The drink is flavored with an extract from the zest of bitter oranges.
As is often the case, the exact recipe and the secret of liqueur production have been kept secret for over a hundred years. Presumably, dried orange peel is soaked in alcohol, after which the distillation process begins. Cointreau oranges are grown in Spain, Brazil and Haiti. The liqueur itself is drunk as an aperitif, while lemon or lime is served with it. Despite the extremely high alcohol content, the liqueur has a mild, exquisite taste with a barely noticeable herbal flavor. As for cocktails, which include the famous liqueur, there are countless numbers of them. Therefore, it is impossible to imagine a bar that does not have the famous brown bottle of the classic Cointreau. Liqueur is a part of such famous cocktails as Daiquiri, Margarita, B-52, Cosmopolitan and many others. To prepare "Daiquiri" you will need: 30 ml of Cointreau liqueur, 45 ml of Bacardi rum, 30 ml of strawberry liqueur, 15 ml of sugar syrup, 20 ml of lemon juice, 10 strawberries, Crushed ice. Mix the ingredients in a blender and pour into a special cocktail glass (Daiquiri is served in a harikein). For "Margarita" you will need: 7 parts of Blanco tequila, 4 parts of Cointreau, 3 parts of lime juice, 1 part of sugar syrup (optional), Salt, Crushed ice. Mix the ingredients in a shaker; Dip the rim of the glass in lime juice and then in salt. Pour in the cocktail and garnish with a slice of lime dumped in sugar. For the B-52 cocktail you need 20 ml of Cointreau, Kahlua and Baileys liqueurs. In a liqueur glass, carefully pour first "Kahlua", then "Baileys" (so that the layers do not mix, pour in the liqueur slowly, on the back of a spoon), and, finally, "Cointreau". The top layer is set on fire. Finally, to prepare Cosmopolitan you will need: 20 ml Cointreau, 30 ml Finlandia cranberry vodka, Juice of half a lemon. Combine the ingredients in a shaker and pour into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a spiral of orange peel.
