The Blue Hawaii cocktail is one of the most popular, has a bright tropical taste, a beautiful color reminiscent of summer, sea and sun. The glass with the drink is beautifully decorated with a straw with an umbrella and fresh fruit. With its taste and appearance, the cocktail is able to give a lot of positive emotions to any gourmet.
The invention of this exotic drink is credited to the legendary bartender Harry Yee at the Hilton Hotel in Hawaii. It was he who in 1957, by order of the Dutch producer of alcoholic drinks "Bols", included the Blue Curacao liqueur in the recipe. Since then, the cocktail has become widely known, it can even be called a kind of visiting card of a beach holiday in Hawaii.
What are they cooked from?
The Blue Hawaii cocktail is tropical. They make it based on rum. The composition also includes pineapple juice, Blue Curasao liqueur, Malibu liqueur, sweetener. Sometimes the strength of the drink is increased by adding vodka. This cocktail is often confused with a completely different - "Blue Hawaiian", although the difference is fundamental: instead of a sweetener, coconut cream is added to the second, and vodka is never topped up.
What do they drink from
The cocktail is served in two ways: either in a Zombie glass or in a Hurriken glass. The first has a larger volume and significant height compared to other glasses, such as "Collins" or "Highball". Hurriken is a beautiful curved glass with a small stem. It is used for tropical cocktails.
Recipe variations
Any cocktail has its own original recipe. But the beauty of such drinks is that, when performed by different bartenders, cocktails will be completely different in taste, even if the exact proportions of each constituent ingredient are observed. And at the same time, there are still no limits for experimentation and creative thought. Therefore, each drink can be made special by adding something new to its composition.
The first preparation option: take a round tall cocktail glass from thick glass, fill it by a third with ice cubes, pour 30 ml of light rum, for example Baccardi, Blue Curacao orange liqueur and Malibu liqueur, add 100 ml of pineapple juice, stir. Serve garnished with a pineapple slice.
The second cooking option: in a blender, one part of Blue Curacao liqueur is mixed with two parts of light rum, two parts of pineapple juice and one part of coconut liqueur. Poured into glasses filled with ice and garnished with a slice of pineapple, pear, a slice of lime and orange.
