Pay attention to the color of the pu-erh itself. Special tea briquettes with a long fermentation or aging period have a characteristic reddish tint, while the “young” pu-erh tea has a greenish tint. Yellow, white, and other stains can be mold and indicate that the tea has begun to deteriorate.
