Making a birthday cake is far from easy. Of course, you can buy a cake in stores, all the more so - for the smallest sweet tooth, showcases are full of many confectionery, which seems to be decorated in the most incredible ways. But what could be tastier than homemade sweets?
Some tips for decorating cakes at home
A cake is not an easy task, but if you are full of enthusiasm and ideas, then not only cooking, for example, a honey cake, but also decorating it will be within your power. Please be patient to realize all your fantasies while decorating with the utmost care.
The main rule when working on decorating birthday cakes is not to complicate! The decoration should be minimally laborious, because moderation, including the use of food colors, is the key to the elegance and appetizing of any dish. When making a homemade cake, especially for the little ones, you can fantasize over ornaments or drawings using jellies, creams, fruits, nuts (cashews, almonds or hazelnuts), chocolate, powdered sugar and various fondants. Everything should look in the same color scheme, elegantly complementing each other.
Remember: if your child is only one year old, it is better to use only natural products or those that will not cause allergic reactions in the child. In addition, if you decide to decorate, for example, a curd or yoghurt cake with cream, you should not overload it with butter creams, and the chocolate icing, in turn, can ruin the shortbread cake.
Special tools for decorating a birthday cake
When decorating a birthday cake with cream, you can use a pastry bag. It will help you arrange flowers, stars and much more - it all depends on the number of attachments available. If you don't have a piping bag, you can use a plastic bag as well. The main thing is that it does not have holes. The hostess just needs to fill it with cream, then carefully cut off the corner and squeeze the cream onto the cake - either with roses or stripes.
With a regular kitchen knife, you can cut any kind of fruit. If you use mastic, then the knife will also be a faithful helper when making the necessary pattern. And with the help of ordinary toothpicks, you can make a beautiful outline of the drawing. After the mastic drawing is ready, it is worth painting it. To do this, you can use food dye and a regular paint brush. Do not forget about special confectionery beads: you can use them to decorate the edges of the cake or draw some phrase associated with a significant event with them.
