Grapefruit jam is distinguished not only by its original bittersweet taste and invigorating citrus aroma, but also by its beautiful appearance. This delicacy is perfect for breakfast and goes well with any ice cream.

It is necessary

  • - 1 kg of peeled red grapefruits;
  • - 700 ml of water;
  • - 1.5 kg of granulated sugar;
  • - vanilla pod;
  • - 1 tbsp. a spoonful of poppy.

Instructions

Step 1

Divide the peeled grapefruit into wedges. In a saucepan, bring 3 liters of water to a boil and dip the grapefruit into it. After 3 minutes, remove the slices and pour over with boiled cold water.

Step 2

Dry the citrus slices, make several punctures in them with a toothpick or fork. Put in a deep dish and pour in 500 g of granulated sugar. Incubate at room temperature for 24 hours.

Step 3

After the allotted time, drain the released juice into a jar and store it in the refrigerator. Then prepare the syrup by mixing 700 ml of water and 800 g of granulated sugar.

Step 4

Pour the prepared syrups over the grapefruit wedges. After two hours, boil the jam over low heat, periodically skimming off the foam. Add remaining sugar, poppy seeds, and vanilla pod 10 minutes remaining.

Step 5

Pour the finished jam into jars, twist and wrap. When it's completely cool, put it in a cool, dark place.
