The classic salad with crab sticks and chips is an original appetizer on the festive table. The trick of its delicate taste lies in the successful combination of soft foods and spicy crispy potato chips. If you also include imagination and it is interesting to arrange it, then such an appetizer will ideally decorate both an adult and a children's party.

Required products:

  • 200 grams of crab sticks;
  • 3-4 pieces of medium homemade tomatoes;
  • 4 eggs;
  • 75-100 grams of chips;
  • 100 grams of hard cheese;
  • light mayonnaise or sour cream to taste;
  • dill, green onions, olives for decoration.

Step by step recipe:

  1. Boil the eggs for 7-10 minutes so that the yolk is hard-boiled. Cover with cold water and leave for 5 minutes. When the eggs are cool, the shells will be easy to remove. Then finely chop the eggs into cubes.
  2. Unpack the crab sticks and chop them as well as eggs.
  3. It is better to use tomatoes that are not too ripe, in order to avoid excess juice in the salad, for the same purpose they should not be chopped too finely. If you still have juicy tomatoes at hand, then it is better not to add a soft core to the salad, but use the harder parts of it. In any case, this will not affect the overall picture in any way and will not make the salad less tasty. For gourmets, it is recommended to pour boiling water over the tomatoes in order to remove the thin skin from the surface of the vegetable and crumble it already in this form.
  4. Grate hard cheese on a medium grater.
  5. It is better to wash and dry the greens before using them to decorate the finished snack. It is also recommended to take the olives out of the jar, or at least drain the juice from them, so as not to spoil the yellow surface of the salad with black drops.
  6. We collect our salad in stages: put the chopped crab sticks on the bottom of a wide plate without sides and grease with mayonnaise. In order not to suffer, spreading the dressing with a spoon evenly over the entire layer, you can make a small hole on the packaging with mayonnaise and apply a thin mesh to the desired layers of the salad. If you have a canned dressing or use sour cream / low fat yogurt instead of mayonnaise, you can put it in a plastic bag by making a small hole in the corner.
  7. Then put the tomatoes. It is not necessary to salt and grease this layer so that the tomatoes do not let in additional juice.
  8. Add a layer of eggs, make a mayonnaise mesh, salt.
  9. Next, lay out the grated cheese and cover with the dressing.
  10. Grind the chips with a rolling pin, you can pour them into a bag or cover with cling film so that the crumbs do not fly in different directions. We leave several whole chips on the petals to decorate our salad.
  11. Spread a layer of chips on the soaked cheese layer.

To implement this undertaking, you will need an oval plate, laying out the layers of salad on which, you must adhere to the oblong shape of the hedgehog's body.

Lay the layers in the same order as on the sunflower, just do not sprinkle with a layer of chips at the end and do not initially press them into small pieces. You need to try to break the chips into thin straws - an imitation of animal needles, and insert them vertically into the finished snack, leaving 1/3 of the salad free - this will be the head of our hedgehog. With your hands, try to form an elongated muzzle and put an olive at the end - the hedgehog's nose. Also, don't forget about the eyes. If you chose green onions for decoration, then you need to chop it finely and sprinkle the edges of the plate, if you have dill, then you can use it. The dill must be divided into small branches and laid out in a circle so that fragments of the white plate do not show through. The hedgehog is ready.

To do this, you need a glass without a bottom, or you can make a round shape out of soft cardboard yourself, which is simply removed after the layers are laid out and you get a salad in the shape of a cylinder.
