Mead preparation boils down to honey fermentation; in the classic recipe, only honey, water, yeast, and hops are used.
It is necessary
6 kg of honey, 7.5 l of water, 1 kg of hop cones, 2 tablespoons of dry yeast or 100 g of pressed
Instructions
Step 1
Every beekeeper knows how to make mead. When washing flasks in which honey was stored, honey extractors and other equipment, saturated honey water is obtained, which is a pity to just pour it out, but it will be undesirable, unprofessional. It is used to make a honeyed intoxicating drink.
Step 2
A simple mead recipe - take 5 kg of honey, preferably light honey, with herbs, and pour 5 liters of water. Put on fire and simmer for one hour. Pour into a large saucepan and let cool. Add dry or compressed yeast to the honey-water solution and let it ferment. Do not close the lid tightly.
Step 3
Prepare a broth - take 1 kg of hops, pour 1.5 liters of water and cook until the hops settle to the bottom, cool. Add a decoction of hops to the fermented mead and let the drink ferment for another three to four days.
Step 4
This is not the end of the mead preparation. Rejuvenate the drink - for this, dilute 1 kg of fresh honey in 1 liter of water and cook, stirring occasionally, until 1 liter of liquid remains. After cooling, pour the liquid into the drink and leave to ferment in a warm place. When the fermentation process is complete, pour into glass containers, seal and refrigerate. The degree of finished mead is 7-10%.
