Potatoes are a universal product. It goes well with different types of meat. Stewed potatoes with smoked brisket can be served both for an everyday lunch and for a festive table. There are several ways to prepare this dish, depending on what kind of kitchen utensils you have.
It is necessary
-
- 1 kg of potatoes;
- 250 g smoked brisket;
- 125 g prunes;
- 2 onions;
- 1, 5 cups meat broth;
- 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
- Bay leaf
- a few peppercorns
- salt.
Instructions
Step 1
Calculate the amount of ingredients. The ratio of brisket to potatoes should be approximately 1: 4, and prunes to brisket should be 1: 2. Prepare raw potatoes. Peel it and cut it into small cubes. It is better to take the brisket not very fat. Cut it into slices.
Step 2
Chop the onion finely. Preheat a frying pan, pour a little vegetable oil into it. Fry the onions until golden brown. Don't forget to stir it.
Step 3
Brisket stew can be cooked in a regular saucepan, clay pot, or pressure cooker. Place the potatoes, brisket and onion in a saucepan. Add washed prunes. Mix the ingredients well and pour over the broth. If you don't have one, it's best to pour water into a pot. You should not use bouillon cubes to prepare such dishes.
Step 4
Add bay leaves, pepper, and salt to your saucepan to taste. Cover the saucepan and simmer over medium heat until tender. After about 45 minutes, the dish can be served.
Step 5
You need an oven to cook smoked brisket potatoes in a clay pot. Prepare the main ingredients in the same way as in the first case, that is, cut the potatoes into cubes and the brisket into slices. Fry the onion and mix with the brisket.
Step 6
When stewing in a clay pot, it is better to lay out the products in layers without stirring. The bottom layer is brisket with onions, put prunes on it, and potatoes on top. Place bay leaves and a few peppercorns between the layers. Pour the contents of the pot with water or broth, after salting it. The liquid should not be too much, it should only slightly cover the top layer. Cover the pot with a lid.
Step 7
Preheat oven to 250C. Place the pot there and simmer for 40-50 minutes. You can use more than one large clay pot, but several small ones. Then the dish can be served directly in the pots.
Step 8
Cooking this dish in a pressure cooker does not fundamentally differ from stewing in a regular saucepan, but it takes a little less time. Fry the onions directly in a saucepan. You can also lightly fry the brisket. Add diced potatoes, prunes, peppers, bay leaves, and salt. Mix all this and cover with water and broth. Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
