Nutritionists recommend including fish in the diet for both adults and children. Most of all vitamins and microelements are stored in steamed fish. Even if you don't have a steamer, you can still use this cooking method.

Step 1
The fastest way to steam is fish fillets or ready-made steaks. If you want to cook fish carcasses, you will have to clean and gut them yourself. First, remove the scales. It is convenient to do this with a sharp knife towards the head of the fish, holding the carcass by the tail with your left hand. To keep the scales from scattering, hold the knife at a slight angle or place the fish in a bowl of water. Cut off the tail, fins and head. Open the belly and carefully remove all the insides. Make a long cut along the back of the carcass and remove the large bones. It is not necessary to remove the skin. Rinse the fillets thoroughly and cut into portions. You can steam and whole fish carcasses, in this case, all preparation comes down to scraping the scales and removing the entrails.

Season the fish with salt and pepper, drizzle with vegetable oil or lemon juice. You can grate the fillets with prepared seasoning or dried herbs. Leave the fish to soak for about 15 minutes, so that it is saturated with the aroma of spices.
Step 3
Prepare your vegetables. Peel the onion and cut it into thin half rings. Wash carrots, peel and grate. You can do without vegetables, or you can cook slices of tomatoes, zucchini, bell pepper with fish. Then you will immediately receive a side dish.
Step 4
Prepare the utensils for steaming the fish. In a wide, but not deep saucepan, pour about half of water, place an heat-resistant flat plate on top. Brush it with a little vegetable oil or place foil on a plate. Spread the pieces of fish on top, onions and carrots on it. If you decide to steam fish with vegetables, place them next to the fillets. It is advisable to lay the fish in one layer, so the steam will be more even. Cover the top of the makeshift steamer with a saucepan lid. Put on medium heat for 25-30 minutes.
