This recipe is unlikely to surprise experienced housewives, but it will certainly help novice cooks. Despite its simplicity, the traditional cherry jam is considered one of the tastiest.

Required Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg cherries;
  • 1.5 kg of sugar.

Preparation:

Wash the berries, separate them from the tails and simultaneously discard the crumpled and spoiled fruits. If you are not embarrassed by the seeds that fall into the jam, then it is better not to remove them, since the whole berry contains more nutrients. Pour the prepared berries into a cooking container, add sugar and leave overnight. In the morning, when the cherries have released enough juice, put the saucepan on the fire and bring the mixture to a boil. After boiling, cook the berries for exactly 5 minutes, periodically removing the white foam from the surface.

Remove the pan from heat and leave the jam to infuse for 10-12 hours. After the specified time has elapsed, start cooking the jam again. First, wait for the boil and simmer for another 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and leave the container with jam for 10-12 hours. Then we repeat the cooking process for the last time. Pour the finished jam into jars, close the lids and put it in a dark place.

Thanks to the addition of lingonberries, cherry jam acquires a pleasant sourness and has more useful properties. If desired, you can use cranberries instead of lingonberries.

Required Ingredients:

  • 2 kg pitted cherries;
  • 1 kg of lingonberries;
  • 300 ml of water;
  • 2.5 kg of sugar.

Preparation:

Wash the cherries, sort out and remove the seeds from them. We sort out the lingonberries, remove the overripe and unripe fruits, then pour them into a colander and rinse under running water. We take a saucepan with a capacity slightly larger than a colander, pour water into it, put it on the fire and wait for it to boil. Dip a colander with lingonberries in boiling water and cook the berries for 2 minutes. This step allows you to get rid of the specific bitter taste of lingonberry.

We transfer all the berries to a saucepan and cover with sugar. This should be done in layers in the following sequence: cherry - sugar - lingonberry - sugar. Place the container with berries on medium heat and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally and removing the foam. When all the sugar is dissolved, reduce the heat and simmer the jam until it thickens. We pack the finished delicacy in cans and roll it up.

Cherry jam with walnuts

Cherry jam with the addition of nuts turns out to be very useful and original. Cherries are in perfect harmony with any varieties - hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds, etc. However, the most piquant taste of cherry jam comes from walnuts.

Required Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of cherries;
  • 1 kg of sugar;
  • 300 g of shelled walnuts;
  • 1 lemon.

Preparation:

First, we start processing the cherries: wash the berries, sort out and remove all the seeds. Pour the peeled walnuts into a dry frying pan and fry for 2 minutes so that they acquire a golden hue. We cut each half of the nut into several pieces so that they can be placed inside the cherry. Next, we proceed to the longest and most painstaking stage - stuffing berries with nuts. This must be done very carefully so as not to damage the integrity of the cherry.

Sprinkle the stuffed berries with plenty of sugar and leave in this form for 5-6 hours. Then cook the cherries over low heat, bring to a boil and simmer for another 7-8 minutes. Remove the jam from the stove, cool to room temperature, and then repeat the cooking procedure three more times. During the last cooking, add the juice of one lemon to the cherry-nut jam, mix thoroughly and bring to a boil. Pour the finished dessert into jars and roll it up.
