As you know, apples are the most affordable fruit for Russians. Therefore, there are a lot of recipes for cooking garden apples for the winter. Jam from apple slices is prepared in a simple and proven way, it turns out to be very fragrant and stored for a long time.
Ingredients for making apple jam:
- 2 kg of any garden apples (proportions can be increased);
- 2 kg of granulated sugar.
Cooking apple jam for the winter:
1. The first step for the jam is to select and prepare the apples. They should be ripe enough, but not overripe. It is also important that the skin is not damaged. Rinse and dry about 3 kg of selected apples (3 kg of apples will make about 2 kg of slices).
2. After the apples are dry, they need to be cut into small wedges. The core must be removed along with the seeds.
3. Take a wide stainless steel pan and put a thin layer of apples on the bottom, sprinkle with sugar. Repeat layers until ingredients run out.
4. Close the pot and leave overnight or 12 hours.
5. When time has passed, apples with syrup should be mixed and boiled over the fire for about 5-7 minutes. Then turn off the stove and leave the jam to cool.
6. When the apple jam has cooled down, you need to repeat the procedure and leave it to cool again.
7. The third time you can boil the jam a little longer, 10-15 minutes, to achieve the desired thickness and richness of taste.
8. While still hot, put the apple jam in sterile jars and twist or roll them up. After cooling, the jars are stored in the cold.
