For many families, it has become a good New Year's tradition to prepare salad in the form of the patron animal of the coming year. In 2018, it will be the Yellow Dog, so a salad prepared in the shape of a funny puppy will be an excellent table decoration on New Year's Eve.
Ingredients for the preparation of New Year's salad "Dog":
- 0.5 kg of beef;
- 0.3 kg of cooked sausage;
- 5 chicken eggs;
- 2 onions;
- 2 pickled or pickled cucumbers;
- 4-5 small potatoes;
- 3-4 medium carrots;
- 0.3 kg of fresh mushrooms;
- mayonnaise to taste (about 300-500 ml);
- salt;
- black olives for decoration.
Cooking New Year's salad "Dog"
1. The first step is to boil meat, potatoes and carrots, as well as eggs in different dishes. Cook everything until tender in water with the addition of salt. Then cool everything down. Peel eggs and vegetables.
2. Finely chop the raw onion into cubes and divide into two equal parts. Cut the cooled meat into small cubes. Grate cucumbers (pickled or pickled) on a coarse grater and put in an iron sieve, colander or cheesecloth to drain the brine. Grate peeled eggs (proteins), boiled sausage and potatoes on a coarse grater, and carrots on a fine grater. Cut the mushrooms into thin neat slices.
3. Half of the onion should be sautéed in a skillet with a little oil. Then add the chopped beef and fry a little more. At the end, pour in the grated cucumbers and cook for a couple of minutes. Then remove the dishes from the stove, and transfer the mass to a clean plate for cooling.
4. Pour the chopped mushrooms into a hot frying pan with a little oil. Mushrooms should be cooked until the liquid has completely evaporated, then add onions, stir and fry until a beautiful golden hue appears. Salt to taste and remove to cool in another dish.
5. For the "Dog" salad, choose a flat dish of sufficient diameter. Lay out all the ingredients on it in layers, initially giving the salad the shape of a lying dog. The first layer should be the meat with onions and cucumbers (about half of the total mass). Top with a layer of half grated potatoes, which can be slightly salted and greased with mayonnaise. The third layer is grated carrots with added salt to taste. Put the mushrooms and onions in the fourth layer. Then potatoes again. The next layer will be the leftover beef and onions. The seventh layer - yolks crumpled or grated on a fine grater. The last layer is grated proteins with the addition of mayonnaise.
Important! Each layer, or after one, can be greased with mayonnaise to taste.
6. After the figure of the dog is formed, you can proceed to decorating the salad. Make ears for the dog from grated potatoes, and place grated sausage on top. The eyes and nose can be made from olives, and the tongue from a piece of boiled sausage.
