The procedure for making any sausage product begins with making minced meat based on various types of meat and other ingredients. Then a specially prepared shell is filled with this minced meat, after which it is cooked. Depending on the type of sausage product, boiling, roasting, smoking or other types of product preparation can be used as this treatment.

Calorie sausage

Sausage products for the most part are a product with a fairly high level of calorie content. However, the total amount of calories contained in a product directly depends on the composition of the minced meat used for its preparation, and can vary significantly. So, in various types of sausages, the calorie content can range from 170 to 560 kilocalories per 100 grams.

The main factor affecting the caloric content of a sausage product is its fat content. This is quite natural, since it is fat that is the most energy-intensive food ingredient: one gram of fat contains about 9 kilocalories. Therefore, sausages with a lower fat content are lower in calories, while sausages with more fat have more calories.

Calorie content of various types of sausages

In general, we can say that boiled sausages are the least high-calorie type of sausages. This is partly due to the fact that during the cooking process, some of the calories contained in the minced meat goes into the broth in which the cooking is carried out. Usually sausages of this type contain from 15 to 30 grams of fat per 100 grams of the finished product, and their calorie content can range from 160 to 300 kilocalories for the same amount of product.

Cooked-smoked and semi-smoked sausages are usually made from minced meat with a high fat content, and their structure is less uniform than that of cooked sausages: small inclusions of animal fat can be clearly distinguished in it. Usually, 100 grams of these types of sausages contain about 30 to 40 grams of fat, which provides them with a caloric value of 300-450 kilocalories for the same amount of the finished product.

Raw smoked sausages are a product, the preparation process of which is fundamentally different from other types of sausages. They are made with the use of long-term smoking at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees, as a result of which excess moisture is removed from the finished product and fermented. This, in turn, provides an increase in the fat content in terms of 100 grams of raw sausage: it is usually in the range from 30 to 60%. Accordingly, the calorie content of such a product also becomes quite high: it ranges from 350 to 600 kilocalories per 100 grams of the product.
