Properly made and beautifully decorated with icing, homemade gingerbread cookies are often superior to store-bought ones in taste and appearance.

Step 1
Tula and Vyazma gingerbread cookies have long become a symbol of Russian baking. Combine eggs, sugar, honey and cinnamon in a bowl to make these flavorful soft gingerbread cookies. Then add softened margarine, stir and place in a water bath for 15 minutes. Stir the mixture periodically until smooth and airy.

Remove the mass from the bath, add a glass of sifted flour, mix thoroughly and cool. Gradually add the rest of the flour to the cooled dough. First stir the dough with a fork, then with your hands. Do not add flour to hot dough, otherwise it will be too tight.

Sprinkle flour on the table surface. Roll out the dough on it into a layer 0.5 cm thick and cut into 9 squares. Place jam on one half of each square, then cover it with the other half. Use your fingers to press down the sides of the dough.

Dip a fork in flour and press the cloves around the rectangles to create curly edges. Place the gingerbread cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake in the preheated oven at 180 ° C for 12 minutes.

Prepare the icing. To do this, put the sugar and milk on the fire and stir until the sugar dissolves. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Lubricate the gingerbread cookies while they are hot.

To make honey cakes, heat the honey to a liquid state. Chill the mixture and mix with the egg. Preheat the oven to 175 ° C.
