But in order to choose the right honey and not make a mistake when buying, this knowledge is not enough, you need to study the details.

Step 1
Take a closer look at the honey. If it looks like a cloudy sediment, it clearly contains unnecessary impurities (sugar or starch). Also remember that each type of honey has its own color: flower - light yellow, buckwheat - brown, linden - amber.

Sniff the honey. Its aroma is unique. This cannot be confused with the smell that sweetened water can give off.
Step 3
Check the honey for consistency. Spoon some honey with a spoon. Make it drip onto your plate. Only that honey is good that will ooze in a thin stream, which forms a hill below. If it flows quickly and eventually forms one big blot, it is better not to buy such a product.
Step 4
Determine if the honey is ripe. To find out, pour the honey into a small saucepan and heat it to 20 ° C. Dip a spoon in there, grab some honey. If it is wrapped around a spoon, it is ripe honey. Otherwise, there is excess water in it: such honey will not be stored for a long time.
Step 5
Unscrupulous sellers can mix something into honey. This is also easy to check. Dilute a spoonful of purchased honey in the same amount of water. If, when a drop of iodine is added to this solution, it turns blue, the honey contains unnecessary flour or starch. In the same honey solution, you can drop vinegar essence: if it hisses, there is chalk in the honey. Another way to find out if there are impurities in honey is to dip a hot stainless wire into it: it must remain clean.
