In order for honey to give pleasure and bring only benefits to the body, it is necessary to choose only a natural product.

It is necessary

a sheet of low-grade paper; - distilled water; - iodine; - vinegar essence

Instructions

Step 1

When choosing honey, pay attention to its color. Each type of honey has a specific color. Linden - amber, floral - light yellow, clover - light, sometimes yellow, buckwheat honey is colored in shades of brown. Pure honey without impurities, whatever its origin, is usually transparent. If it contains starch, sugar and other impurities, it is unclear and has a sediment.

Step 2

Notice the aroma of the bee product. Real honey has a fragrant, incomparable smell. The addition of sugar makes honey taste like sweetened, odorless water.

Step 3

The consistency of natural honey is delicate and thin. It should be easily rubbed between the fingers and be absorbed into the skin without hindrance. The counterfeit product has a rough structure, and lumps will remain on the fingers when rubbed.

Step 4

Check if sugar and water are added to the honey. To do this, take a sheet of low-grade paper that absorbs moisture well and put a drop of honey on it. If a drop spreads out, leaving wet spots on the paper, or seeps through it, then the honey is diluted with water. There is no water in the natural product. Also, spreading of honey on paper may indicate its low quality and mean that the product was taken from the hive unripe. Such honey has a high moisture content and deteriorates quickly.

Step 5

You can also reveal the content of sugar syrup in honey by dipping a piece of bread into it. Remove the bread after 10 minutes. In a natural quality product, the bread will harden. If the piece has become softer or crawled, this is sugar syrup.

Step 6

To find out if honey contains starch and chalk, dilute a little honey with a little distilled water, add 5 drops of iodine there. If the solution turns blue, it means that starch was used in the manufacture of the product. By dropping a few drops of vinegar essence (instead of iodine) into the same solution, you can find out if the honey contains chalk: the solution containing it will hiss.

Step 7

When buying honey in reserve, first take a small amount of it from 3-4 regular sellers. At home, make all of the above samples and store for future use that honey that corresponds to natural quality.

Step 8

Store honey in earthenware, glass, wood, ceramic and porcelain dishes. Never store honey in metal containers, as the acids contained in the metal can react. This will lead to a decrease in nutrients and an increase in heavy metals in honey. Such a product can lead not only to unpleasant sensations in the stomach, but also to poisoning.
