The use of juices and juice-containing products is growing inexorably. Nutritionists explain this by the craving of our fellow citizens for healthy eating. However, the usefulness of such drinks is questionable.

The older generation remembers that earlier in stores they sold bottled juices, exclusively of domestic production, which had a natural taste and a bright aroma.

The juices that are produced today bear little resemblance to those drinks, the range has expanded greatly, drinks are packed in cardboard boxes, and not in glass jars as it was before.

If you believe the advertising, a lot of exotic fruits and berries grow on the territory of Russia, of course, this is not the case, therefore, beautiful videos about orchards are nothing more than a marketing ploy.

Juices made by direct extraction make up about 10% of the total amount of drinks, the rest is made from frozen concentrate.

The orange concentrate used for the preparation of drinks is imported from China and Brazil, for sweet apple from China, for tomato from Iran and Turkey, and only sour apple concentrate is completely prepared in Russia. Therefore, the statement that the products are completely domestic production is completely wrong.

In order to enrich juice and juice-containing products with vitamins, manufacturers add various vitamin mixtures to the concentrate, only they do it before pasteurization, so little remains of the useful elements.

Directly squeezed juices are also called reconstituted. In their manufacture, the frozen concentrate is diluted with water, its amount is approximately 90%, the rest is dyes, preservatives and sweeteners, but for some reason manufacturers often keep silent about this.

Nectars are made from vegetables, fruits and berries, the pulp of which is so dense that you cannot squeeze juice out of it. This product category includes pumpkin, plum pear, banana, mango, and so on. A thick puree is made from the above products, which is diluted with water to the desired consistency, the juice content in the nectar usually does not exceed 50%. The composition of nectars should not contain dyes, preservatives, sweeteners and flavorings, but in some cases they are still found, especially in inexpensive products.

Juice drinks bear little resemblance to natural and reconstituted dates. Their composition is: no more than 25% juice, and the rest is sugar, water, various chemical additives. Juice drinks are considered quite unhealthy for those on a diet, as they add a lot of sugar, about 4 teaspoons per small 200 gram box.

Drinks containing juice have nothing to do with juices, in principle, they contain no more than 3% of natural juice. Various chemical ingredients are allowed to be added to these drinks.

Many people think that juice developed in a glass container is much healthier than a drink from a cardboard box, but this opinion is erroneous. In terms of the content of natural juice, sugar and vitamin and mineral composition, these drinks are approximately identical, just glass containers are more expensive.

Of course, you can choose juice from the “more expensive” category, but in this case no one guarantees its naturalness, so home-made drinks are still the most useful and tasty.
