Despite all of the above, regular consumption of oatmeal can harm the figure, since the product contains a decent amount of calories (360 kcal per 100 grams) and quite a lot of starch, which is converted into sugar during digestion. So how do you lose weight on oatmeal? The answer is simple - observe moderation and a few rules:
- Choose cereals made from whole oats and Hercules flakes and avoid instant foods.
- Eat no more than three servings of oatmeal per week.
- Do not combine oatmeal with milk, but cook porridge in water. Then you can add fresh berries or pieces of fruit to it. Better yet, make oatmeal soup!

Oatmeal soup with onions
Ingredients:
- 150 g oatmeal;
- 1 liter of filtered water;
- 4 onions;
- 1 carrot;
- 1 bunch of greens;
- 1 tbsp. a spoonful of odorless olive oil;
- salt.
Preparation:
Pour water into a saucepan, add salt and olive oil, place on the stove and bring to a boil. Peel the vegetables, grate the carrots on a medium grater, finely chop the onion. Add prepared vegetables to the pot and cook for 10 minutes. At the end of cooking, add the cereal and keep on the stove until tender. Serve on plates and sprinkle with fresh chopped herbs.
Oatmeal soup with vegetables
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup oatmeal
- 1 1/2 liters of water;
- 2 potatoes;
- 1 carrot;
- 1 onion;
- 1 tbsp. a spoonful of vegetable oil;
- salt.
Preparation:
Pour water into a saucepan, add salt and oil, bring to a boil. Peel the vegetables, chop the potatoes and onions, grate the carrots on a medium grater. Add potato slices to a pot of boiling water and cook for 20 minutes. Add onions and carrots and cook for another 10 minutes. Add the oatmeal and cook on the stove for about 15 minutes.
