Red fish is an excellent delicacy, which, when skillfully combined with other products, gives a bright, unique taste. Cream cheese, as well as vegetables and herbs are most suitable for red fish.
Red fish salad is a dish with a pronounced, but, at the same time, very delicate creamy taste. It looks very much like a cake, so it should be served accordingly.
To prepare a salad of red fish, you will need: 300 g of slightly salted salmon or trout, 100 g of crab sticks, 100 g of cream cheese, 3 chicken eggs, 1 potato, 1 carrot, 10 g of gelatin, 4 tbsp. l. mayonnaise, salt to taste.
Surprisingly, crab sticks have nothing to do with crabs, this product is made from white fish meat. The first crab sticks were made in 1973 in Japan, and in Russia the production of sticks appeared in 1984.
In order to prepare this dish, first of all prepare the cream with which you will dress your salad. Place the gelatin in a glass and fill it halfway with water. Heat the mixture slightly in the microwave and stir well. Combine the cream cheese and mayonnaise in a small bowl, then pour the swollen gelatin over the mixture. Salt the cream, add black pepper or dried herbs to taste. Please note that there should be enough salt in the dressing, since you do not need to salt the salad layers.
Boil chicken eggs, peel them. Next, separate the yolks from the whites, grate on a fine grater. Also grate the crab sticks. Set these ingredients aside while preparing the vegetables. Rinse the potatoes and carrots under cold running water, then boil. Peel vegetables, grate on a coarse grater. Cut lightly salted fish into long thin slices. All the ingredients for preparing the salad are ready, now you can start forming the layers.
Take a salad bowl and line it with cling foil. Next, on the bottom, as well as on the walls of the form, lay slices of red fish. Spread 2-3 tablespoons of butter evenly over the bottom. Lay the grated yolks on top of the cheese, then squeeze out a small amount of cream using a pastry bag, smooth out. Put the grated proteins in the next layer, then the dressing. On top of the cream, spread the crab sticks, boiled potatoes and boiled carrots, respectively spreading the butter cream between them. Coat the top of the carrot layer with the remaining dressing.
Wrap the edges of the fish over the base of the flaky salad. Cover the salad bowl with cling film and refrigerate for 3-4 hours. After the time has passed, the cream will harden, at this point turn the salad onto a plate and remove the foil.
To serve a delicious red fish dish, garnish it with caviar and sprigs of dill and parsley, and put fresh salad leaves on a plate around the dish. Serve the salad after cutting it into portions. Such a dish is perfect for a festive feast, great for the New Year and Christmas.
Although the main ingredient of the salad is red fish, you can safely serve it along with meat dishes, for example, grilled ones, as well as fresh bread.
