It seems that there is nothing easier than cooking meat and potatoes. But each housewife turns out a roast with her own special taste, just like home. It all depends on those minor components that are added to the dish. They add a personal touch that makes home-style roasts different in every family. It can be cooked in ceramic portion pots or in a large saucepan. Do what is most convenient for you at the moment.

It is necessary

    • beef pulp (700 gr);
    • potatoes (1 kg);
    • onions (3 pieces);
    • flour (1 tbsp. spoon);
    • vegetable oil;
    • tomato paste (2 tablespoons);
    • bay leaf (3 pieces);
    • cloves (2 pieces);
    • black peppercorns (5 pieces);
    • ground black and red pepper;
    • salt.

Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the beef flesh under cold water. Take a closer look at the piece and determine how the fibers are located. Cut the beef across the long fibers, then it cooks well and will be soft. Place the meat on a board and cut into apricot-sized chunks.

Step 2

Pour ground black pepper into a tablespoon, add a little red hot pepper to it. Shake the spoon over the meat pieces. Try to pepper evenly. Salt the beef and put it in a plastic bag.

Step 3

Place a skillet with butter over high heat. While the oil is heating, add wheat flour to the bag over the pieces of beef. Tie the bag well. Swirl the meat in flour so that it rolls on all sides.

Step 4

Pour the meat from the bag into boiling oil. Sear the beef cuts on all sides until crusty. Do not diminish the fire. Be careful not to drip water from wet hands or shoulder blade when turning meat in the pan, otherwise the hot splashes can burn you.

Step 5

Transfer the browned meat to a deep saucepan. At this stage, if you have planned to make the roast in portions, then put the meat in the prepared ceramic pots, and you will also add the rest of the ingredients there.

Step 6

Put the kettle on to boil. While it is boiling, pour a glass of water into the pan where the meat was fried. Add tomato paste. Boil everything in the remaining meat juice and flour. Pour the resulting mass into a saucepan for the meat. Pour two more glasses of boiling water from the teapot there.

Step 7

Close the saucepan tightly with a lid and put on low heat for two hours.

Step 8

Peel the onions and chop them the way you like. These can be very small pieces of onion, then it will practically dissolve during further cooking, leaving its aroma to the dish. Or you can cut into sectors, then the onion strips will be clearly visible in a hot home-style.

Step 9

Fry the onions in a skillet and add to the stew after two hours.

Step 10

Cut the washed and peeled potatoes into two or four pieces. Place in a saucepan.

Step 11

Add bay leaves, peppercorns, cloves there and simmer for another 30 minutes.

Step 12

Sprinkle the finished dish with fresh herbs and serve with a vegetable salad.
