Fresh Armenian lavash will be an excellent addition to both oriental and European dishes. At the same time, pita bread can be used in the preparation of hot snacks, sandwiches, as well as in other recipes.
Chicken rolls
You will need:
- 4 sheets of pita bread;
- 400 g chicken fillet;
- 50 g bread crumbs;
- 300 g of green salad;
- 1 large tomato;
- 100 g sour cream;
- 1 tsp curry powder;
- a quarter of an orange;
- 3 tbsp. beef broth;
- 2 tbsp. flour;
- vegetable oil;
- salt.
You can use egg-based batter or sesame seeds instead of bread crumbs.
Wash the chicken and cut into 1 cm thick cubes. Season the meat with salt and pepper, then roll in breadcrumbs. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the chicken in it for 8-10 minutes until tender. Place the chicken sticks on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil. If you do not want to increase the calorie content of the dish, you can bake the chicken in the oven.
Go ahead and prepare the sauce. Pour sour cream into a saucepan and heat over low heat. Add broth, curry powder, flour and juice of a quarter of an orange to it, salt and cook, stirring occasionally, making sure that the sour cream does not curl. In the meantime, wash and chop the tomatoes, leave the lettuce in the leaves. Brush the pita bread with curry sauce, place green lettuce, tomatoes and fried chicken in the center. Roll the pita bread into a tight roll and then cut it in half. The sandwich can be served cold or grilled.
Hot appetizer from Armenian lavash with meat
You will need:
- 600 g of beef;
- 1 red bell pepper and 1 green pepper;
- 1 onion;
- 3 tbsp. vegetable oil;
- 4 tomatoes;
- 1 tsp Sahara;
- 12 pita bread;
- 3 cloves of garlic;
- 1 lemon;
- 1 tsp tobasco sauce;
- sour cream to taste;
- salt and freshly ground black pepper.
For extra pungency, you can add half of the hot pepper to the dish.
Peel and chop the garlic, squeeze the juice from the lemon. mix these ingredients with the tobasco sauce, season with salt and pepper. Beat the meat a little and cut into strips across the grain. Pour marinade over it, stir, cover with cling film and refrigerate for half an hour. Peel the bell peppers from seeds and partitions and cut into strips. Cut the onion into half rings. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onions and peppers in it for 5-7 minutes. Set these vegetables aside. Scald the tomatoes with boiling water, remove the skin from them, and chop the pulp. Put them in a skillet, add sugar and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper at the end of cooking. Separately fry the meat for a minute over high heat, then lower the temperature and top it with tomato sauce. Heat the lavash in the microwave. Place the meat in tomato sauce and sauteed vegetables in the center of each leaf. Roll the pita bread and serve with sour cream.
