There are over a hundred ways to beautifully fold your table napkin. The very names of these methods are sometimes as refined as the technique of obtaining an intricate figure from a linen rectangle is complex. There is also "Rose of the Winds" and "Hourglass", "Ghost" and "Swan". You can fold several colored napkins at the same time, use special rings, add lace and ribbons to the napkins. The art of folding napkins is a lot like origami, and in both cases, start with the simplest shapes.

Step 1
Classic "cap"
Fold the napkin in half so that its wide edges are facing you and the fold is facing away from you. With your left thumb and forefinger, grasp the top left edge of the napkin, so that the fabric is between your fingers. In two turns to the right, roll the cone to the middle of the napkin. Now, flip the square part of the napkin from right to left, so that you have a square in your hands and a triangle of the cone you have folded looks out from under it. Take the corner protruding from the bottom and wrap it up. Gently flatten the base of the cone. The higher you lift the lower triangle, the more stable your cap will be.
Step 2
"Love letter"
It is customary to put small souvenirs into a napkin folded in this way.
Fold the napkin in half and then diagonally to form a triangle. The acute angle of the triangle is facing away from you. Mentally divide the triangle in half, now divide the right side of it in half again. Fold the right edge of the napkin towards the middle, so that the corner is on the second line you imagine. Now fold the right edge in half again, so that the edge of the napkin is in the imaginary middle. Fold the left corner to the middle once so that a rhombus with equal edges is formed from the edges of the napkin on top. Now you have a small corner on your right. Fold it back. Tuck the bottom third of the napkin away from you, so that you end up with an open envelope.
Step 3
Classic "fan".
Fold the napkin in half, with the fold toward you. Begin to fold the right half of the napkin "accordion", all folds are equal and no more than two centimeters each. Turn the napkin over so that the accordion is at the bottom, lying on the surface. Now fold the napkin in half again, again with the fold toward you. Bend the upper left corner down and tuck its protruding part under the napkin. Fan the accordion.
