Ingredients for meringue:

  • Powdered sugar - 250 g;
  • Egg whites - 6 pcs.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • Water - 1 l;
  • Half a lemon;
  • Powdered sugar - 100 g;
  • Large sour apples - 4 pcs.
  • For registration, you will need confectionery crumb.

Preparation:

  1. First, you need to prepare the syrup in which the apples will be cooked. To do this, squeeze juice from half a lemon. Boil water along with sugar and juice of half a lemon.
  2. Put the oven on the lowest setting.
  3. Next, wash the apples and cut off the peel from them. Remove the middle from the apple using a special device. Put apples in boiling syrup and cook. The duration of the boil is determined by the softness of the apples. They must become malleable. It is important here that the apples remain intact and retain their shape. Drain the syrup into a bowl and dry the sugared apples.
  4. Now you need to prepare the meringue. To prepare the meringue, beat the egg whites. Beat until peaks form. Add the sifted icing sugar and continue whisking the mixture. This mixture should become thicker and shinier as soon as it happens, stop beating.
  5. Transfer the apples to a heat-resistant dish and cover them with the prepared meringue mixture. You should get some kind of pyramids. Decorate the top of the pyramid with pastry crumbs.
  6. Put the apples covered with meringue in the oven for 9-12 hours, you can leave the dish in the oven overnight. At the minimum setting, the dish will take a long time to cook. If you are not going to serve a dish, then turn off the oven. Before serving, preheat the oven to the lowest setting and heat the food for about 15 minutes.
  7. Serve the apple meringue warm with chilled whipped cream or ice cream.
