A good housewife should know that each product requires individual storage conditions. Only by observing the rules for storing food can you prepare fresh and delicious meals. After all, the conditions in which the food is kept depends on what they will be on our table.
Meat. Purchased chilled meat can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. The exception is chicken: it will stay fresh for 1–2 days. If you put the meat in the freezer, then it can be stored for about six months.
Fish and seafood. The fish is stored in the freezer from 3 to 6 months. Less than 1–2 days in the refrigerator. Many types of fish have a strong odor that can spread to other foods. Therefore, the fish must be wrapped in several layers of paper.
Sausage and cheese. It is recommended to store the cheese in a special container - syrnitsa. There it will not dry out. If not, wrap the cheese in edible paper and store on the middle shelf of the refrigerator. It is best to put the sausage there, having previously wrapped it in foil.
Milk products. After purchase, transfer the cottage cheese to an enamel bowl and place it on the middle shelf of the refrigerator. Milk should not be stored on the refrigerator door: the temperature is too high for it. Better to put the bag in the main compartment.
Eggs. After purchasing eggs, wash each one with warm water and soap - prevention of salmonellosis. They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 weeks. Moreover, they are better stored not in a special container for eggs on the door, but on the lower shelf of the refrigerator.
Cereals and flour. Bulk products should be stored in sealed cans or glass jars. But even there, bugs sometimes overwhelm them. Put a bag of gauze with salt in a container with cereals, and these insects will no longer bother you. Pour the flour into a linen bag - there it will be stored for a long time.
Bread. It is not recommended to store bread in plastic bags. A wooden bread bin is best suited for this purpose. In it, he will breathe and will not dry out. Don't buy a lot of bread at once. Expect to eat it in a couple of days.
Berry fruits. Bananas, melons, kiwi, mangoes, pomegranates, pineapples should not be kept in the refrigerator. The rest of the fruits do not like the cold either. Put them in a cool, dark place; that will be enough. Apples should be stored separately as they give off a gas that will speed up the ripening of other fruits. Store berries in the refrigerator, in a separate container, unwashed.
Vegetables and greens. There is a special glass compartment for vegetables in the refrigerator. You can store them there without removing them from the plastic bags in which they were purchased. Place the potatoes in a dark drawer in a cool place. Cabbage can be additionally wrapped in paper: complete absence of moisture is important for it. Put the greens in a glass with a little water on the bottom. Another option is to wash the greens, dry them thoroughly, wrap them in paper and put them in the refrigerator. Peeled onions and garlic can be placed in a separate container and placed on the middle shelf of the refrigerator.
